Cookie Notice

Last updated:

This notice explains which cookies and similar technologies (such as the browser’s local storage) our site uses, what they are for, and how you can change your settings. The use of cookies is governed in Hungary by Section 155 of Act C of 2003 on electronic communications (Eht.); personal data is governed by the GDPR and the Infotv., on which the Privacy Notice gives full detail. The Hungarian version is the primary text.

1.What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a site stores in your browser on your device. Cookies let a site recognise your earlier settings, work better, and report how visitors use it. The browser’s local storage (localStorage) serves a similar purpose; in this notice, “cookie” also covers it.

First-party cookies are set by the site we operate; third-party cookies are set by another provider (e.g. a measurement or embedded service).

2.Which types of cookies do we use?

Strictly necessary cookies. These are required for the basic operation and security of the site (e.g. loading the page, remembering your consent decision). They can be used without consent; you can block them in your browser settings, but parts of the site may then not work properly.

Preference cookies. These remember choices you make, such as your language. We store them only as a result of your explicit choice (e.g. when you use the language switch), and only to make the site more convenient to use.

Measurement (analytics) cookies. These help us understand how visitors use the site (e.g. how many people complete the diagnostic quiz) so that we can improve content and operation. We use these only if you consent, and you can withdraw consent at any time.

We do not currently use marketing cookies. If we introduce them in the future, we will do so only with your consent and will update this notice first.

3.The cookies and storage items in detail

  • itwan-lang (preference cookie and local storage): remembers your chosen language (hu or en). A first-party cookie with SameSite=Lax, valid for 12 months, created when you use the language switch. Legal basis: your explicit request and our legitimate interest in keeping the site convenient to use.
  • itwan-cookie-choice (necessary, local storage): remembers whether you accepted or declined cookies in the banner (“accepted” or “rejected”) so we do not ask on every visit. It stays in your browser’s local storage until you or your browser delete it. Legal basis: legitimate interest in remembering your decision.
  • Measurement data (consent only): we may measure aggregate events such as completing the diagnostic quiz and the chosen language, using the measurement tool of the platform that runs the site. Legal basis: consent.

The platform and hosting provider that runs the site ([tárhelyszolgáltató / hosting provider]) may use technical cookies or log data (e.g. for security and load balancing) to operate it. The list above covers the storage items set by our own code; for cookies set by third parties, see the relevant provider’s own notice.

4.How to accept or decline cookies

On your first visit, a cookie banner appears at the bottom of the page. Use “Accept” or “Decline” to decide whether you consent to non-necessary cookies (in particular measurement cookies). Closing the banner with the “Close” (✕) button does not record a decision, so the banner appears again on your next visit.

Consent is voluntary; if you decline, all essential functions of the site remain available. You can change your decision at any time: clear the site’s stored data in your browser (see below), and the banner will appear again so you can make a new choice.

5.Changing settings in your browser

Most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies. The exact steps differ by browser; the general paths are:

  • Chrome: Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies / Site data;
  • Firefox: Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data;
  • Safari: Settings › Privacy › Manage Website Data;
  • Edge: Settings › Cookies and site permissions › Manage and delete cookies and site data.

If you block or delete cookies, your settings (e.g. language and cookie decision) are lost and the site may ask for them again. Blocking cookies may also limit some features of the site.

6.Contact and changes

For questions about cookies, contact us at [e-mail]. Your data protection rights and remedies are described in the Privacy Notice.

We may update this notice if the cookies used by the site or the law change. The current version is always available on this page, and the date of the latest update is shown at the top.
